You shall be with me in paradise

Luke 23:46 helps to explain that the spirit in man is not interchangeable with the soul. The Bible says many times that at death the spirit in man goes back to the Father who gave it but never says that the soul goes back to the Father who gave it. When Jesus gave up his spirit, it went back to the Father in heaven who gave it. But John 20:17 tells us that this was not an example of Jesus going to heaven because he told Mary Magdalene not to cling or hold him at this time because he had not yet gone to his Father in heaven and this was three days after his death. This also contradicts what we are told Christ said to the thief on the cross. Christ did not meet with this thief that day in heaven. The thief did not ask to be with Christ in heaven that day. He asked Jesus to remember him when he, Jesus, would come into (the Greek word is εἰς) his kingdom at the Second Coming. Verses referring to Jesus coming in judgment always use the word “in” (εν in Greek). Therefore, since punctuation is determined by the translator, the comma should be moved and the phrase should be written like this: “I tell you the truth today, you shall be with me in paradise.” The kingdom to be established on this earth at the return of Christ will be a paradise.
